Facility

Water Recovery, LLC (WRI)’s facility is designed to meet EPA’s stringent Centralized Waste Treatment (CWT) standards. Located in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, near EverBank Field, the WRI plant employs the latest CWT technologies to treat nonhazardous wastewater and used oils. With our state-of-the-art facility, WRI offers the flexibility to custom design a waste treatment process for individual client materials. These specialized processes require a high-level of expertise and constant monitoring to ensure the quality of our effluent and the delivery of “best in class” service to our valued clients.

  • Free and emulsified oil / water separation
  • Chemical precipitation for metals removal
  • Chemical oxidation of organic compounds
  • Heat treatment and emulsion breaking for used oil recycling
  • Neutralization
  • Sludge dewatering

Key elements of our facility include:

  • Waste approval and acceptance testing are performed in our on-site laboratory.
  • Process control and pre-compliance metals samples are analyzed on-site using our Spectro Genesis simultaneous ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma)
  • Five high-volume off-load pumps allow for a gate to gate time of fewer than 60 minutes!
  • Eleven 7,000-gallon, cone-bottom batch tanks. These tanks allow WRI to tailor treatment to a specific batch of wastewater. WRI can perform any number of chemical treatments in these tanks including emulsion breaking, and metals precipitation.
  • After batch pretreatment (if necessary), all the wastewater that will be processed in our continuous system is collected in a new 50,000-gallon equalization tank. This added equalization allows for greater control over dosage and pH. This allows WRI to use less treatment chemical and generates less sludge.
  • An API oil/water separator separates free oil from wastewater.
  • A dissolved air flotation (DAF) unit performs continuous chemical precipitation and solids removal.
  • Treated wastewater is collected in a 50,000-gallon discharge tank to be tested for regulatory compliance and certifications prior to discharge
  • All the oil removed in wastewater treatment as well as used oil accepted directly, are treated in our used oil recovery system. This process uses both thermal and chemical methods to remove contaminants from the waste oil.
  • Sludge dewatering is performed in our plate-and-frame filter press. The filter cake is disposed of as nonhazardous waste and the filtrate is returned to the process.
